miasma 瘴気（しょうき）

miasma = bad air 瘴気（しょうき）、病気を起こす悪い空気。2;50 in fact, flu virus itself was not even discovered until 1930s. so imagine how scary it would've been in 1918 when saw all those people dying but you didn't even know what a flu virus was. there were still some people who actually still believed in the idea of miasma. and that infectious disease was actually just caused by bad air. インフルエンザウイルスと言うものは1930年代までは発見されなかった。だから、1918年のスペイン風邪当時、人々が次々と倒れていくのを見て、ウイルスなどを知らない人たちがどのような恐怖を感じたのか想像してみてください。当時は瘴気（しょうき）と言うものを本当に信じていた人たちがまだ沢山いました。瘴気（しょうき）とは人々を病におかす悪い空気のことです。
