北欧のエストニアは X-road （エックスロードと読む、クロスロードではない）という電子政府を目指している。電子政府とは何でもかんでもデータ化してコンピューターで管理する政府という意味。

したの二つのビデオはアメリカのクイズ番組のパロディーだが、考えさせられる。まずは物の値段を当てる The Price Is Right だが、日本でも同じような番組があった。

大体、物の値段とは一体どのようにつけるのだろうか？原価に人件費をつけてそこに利益を上乗せして売ればいい、のだろうが、そこは売る側の気持ち次第ということになる。だから便乗値上げもあれば、タダで寄付することもある。結論から言えば、ものには常識的な値段はあるが、明確な値段は存在しないということだ。今ベネズエラではハイパーインフレに見舞われ、同じものでも夕方買うと、朝よりも高くつく状況になっている。ハイパーインフレーションのような状況では、このようなクイズ番組は成立しない。

二つ目のクイズ番組パロディーは Wheel of Fortune。これはパネルには何が書かれているのかを当てるゲームだがこのパロディー番組だけはヒアリングの過程によく似ていると思う。皆が教科書どおりの発音をしてくれればヒアリングは随分楽になるのだが、発音には間違いもあればかなりの個人差、幅がある。だから、一度聞いただけですべて完璧に聞き取れるということはまずない。ちょっと試行錯誤することはあるが、いつも頼りになるのは文型、文法、語彙、イディオム、そして常識ということになる。
