英和辞書が英語を学習する人にとって障害物であるのと同じように、受験英語は英語学習者にとっては時間の浪費になる。以前同僚から英会話を勉強すると大学入試に落ちるというショッキングなコメントを聞いたが、よくよく考えてみるとそれには一理だけある。英語をまったく知らなければ　toeic　のスコアは必然的に 0点　となるはずだが、択一問題だと、0点　を取るのが非常に難しい。誰でも点数は取れてしまう。そこで試験のパターンを教える指南本が出回ることになる。あらゆる教科に「傾向と対策」のような「アンチョコ」が存在する。司法試験や医師国家試験などは極端な話しをすれば、学校に行かなくてもアンチョコを勉強すれば合格する。、、、toeic　 なども点数を上げるためだけの当て物が出来る。だから、わたしは入試とか英検とかtoeic　などの試験は英語の力を育てるのにまったく役に立っていないと思っている。あのようなものは一日も早く無くすべきで、どうしても試験が必要なら、白紙筆記と面接に切り替えるべきだとおもう。

とにかく、受験英語のせいで、英語を勉強している人間は自動的にロスタイムを強いられている。これは非常にもったいない時間だ。人生は短い。だからこそ英語は正しい方法で勉強して、最短時間でマスターしなければならない。正しい勉強法とはとにかく正しい英語をどんどん暗記することだ。だから、明治時代の人たちは発音はどうだったのかわからないが、少なくとも構文力では現代人よりも上で、英語をうまく読めていたのではないかと思う。暗記、暗記、暗記、これ以外の勉強法は存在しない。そのためには自分で英語ノートを作り常に問題意識を持つべきだ。無機質で無意味な暗記をしてはいけない。自分で作ったノートを何度も読み返す、普通の人間ならこれだけで暗記は完成するはずだ。
