reservation
この単語で記憶にある二件。
一つは、高校時代に読んだ『カナダ・インディアン』（新保満著）という本です。この本によると、
彼らの居留地を「合衆国ではreservation、カナダではreserveと呼ぶ」と書いてありました。
それと、もう一つは、Reserved Officers Training Corpsという、将来、合衆国軍の士官志望の
学生が、座学と長期休暇時での野戦訓練等で単位を取って、卒業後に将校となるコース、
いわゆる予備士官養成講座ですが、以前、chowについてメールしました、映画『勝利なき戦い』の
副官のモデルとなった、エディ・ツギオ・オーハシが、このR.O.T.C.出身とのことです。
あ、それから、以前フランス軍が陣地に女性名をつけると申しましたが、映画Jump into Hell
（邦題『地獄へ突っ込め』）中そのシーンがありました。
