町内会の餅つき大会、かなりハードな一日だった。若いつき手がだんだん少なくなってきた。この冬の風物詩もいつまで続くことやら。
最近どこのスーパーでも見かけるようになってきた、シュトーレン、シュトレンは早い話が、ラム酒に漬けた果物を使ったフルーツケーキのこと。ドイツのドレスデンのシュトレンが有名。0:07 a giant piece of stollen. stollen is the German Christmas cake which Dresden is famous for. 注；この馬車の Dresdner Stollenfest = Dresden Stollen Festival に注目。

Germans celebrate Christmas with giant cake, special train このビデオで大切なことは 0:39 で登場する Saint Nicholas サン・ニコラスでコカコーラが創作したサンタクロースの原型。サン・ニコラスは（現在で言えば）トルコ人だったから、白人ではない。
私の英語ノートのちょうど真ん中に、flatter than a squirrel on the freeway （高速道路で轢かれているリスよりもぺちゃんこに潰れている）面白いと思ったので書いただけで、イディオムではない。しかし使ってみるのも面白い。
