私がすすめる医学英語 2018/06/30

概してヨーロッパでは必要以上の包茎手術はしない。日本でもそのような蛮行はあまりしない。韓国、フィリッピンなどでは義務であるかのように包茎手術をする。アメリカでもそうだ。包茎手術は蛮行以外の何者でもないが、向こうの医学関係者までが口を揃えて包茎手術の必要性を強調する。それは、宗教とはまったく関係がなくセックスがよくなるからというとんでもない発想だ。最初は宗教や衛生上の理由をこじつけるが最終的にはセックスが理由となる。向こうの医者や看護婦たちは頭でものを考えずに自動的に亀頭でものを考える。これは紛れもない事実。1:35 I hear all those Europe guys are uncircumcised. ヨーロッパの男性は皮がむけてないからセックスが下手だってよく聞くけど、、、、

aren't の部分がアーントではなく R が強調されて、アーレントのように聞こえる。これは別に問題ではない。ここでちょっと思い出してしまったのが、there is, there are の発音。中学で教えられた、ゼアリズ、ゼアラーはまだ聞いたことがない。どうでもいいことかもしれないが、R 部分が強調されずに、ゼアィズ、ゼアァーと聞こえる。

私の英語ノートのしたから六行目の vindication は正当性が証明されるくらいの意味だが、he's vindictive. 奴は執念深い、報復的だ、復讐心が強い、くらいの意味になる。つまり、vindication と vindictive は正反対の意味になる。0;23 for President Trump, it was supreme vindication. 最高裁でトランプのモスレム入国禁止令が支持されたことは、トランプにとっては自分の言い分が正しかったと証明された最大の勝利だ。
