読者からヒヤリングの練習問題のスクリプトがどこにあるのか不明なので、「オンライン英会話辞典 BRIDGE　これを英語でなんと言うか？」の使い方がわからない、と言う趣旨のメールを頂いた。さて、私は自分の耳で聞いたものを書き起こしているが、全文を書き起こすことはしない。ヒヤリングの練習問題はイディオムや単語などを教えるのが目的だから、全文を書き起こしても意味が無いからだ。全文に意味があるとすれば、それは中学や高校の英語の教科書の全文だろう。それは是非全文暗記してほしい。あれには基本的な文法が網羅されているからだ。ヒヤリングの練習問題の全文を暗記する必要は無い。しかし、私の出題する問題の解答は一つ一つ理解して夢に出てくるまで練習する必要がある。いつか書いたと思うが、某大学の英文科を卒業して予備校で英語を教えていた二人の先生がいた。二人とも英語はまったくといっていいほど話せなかったが、生徒から英文法の質問があると、何巻もある分厚い英文法大辞典のどの部分にその質問に対する回答が載っているのか即座に回答していた。この能力（というか芸当と言うか）には驚いた。すると、生徒は何も理解していないのに、そこで安心してわかったような気分になった、、、これにはもっと驚いてしまった。同じイディオムを色々な場面で聞いてヒヤリング力を高めるのがヒヤリングの練習問題の趣旨なので頑張って全文を消化しようとすると、消化不良に成るかもしれない。だから、毎日少しずつイディオムと単語を増やすのが英語学習の王道だ。この読者には性能のいいコンピューターを使うように薦めておいた。私は4面と6面のデスクトップを使っているが、この二台のコンピューターはノートパソコンの10倍20倍のスピードで私の仕事のサポートをしてくれている。

大学共通テスト英語、リスニングの比重２０→５０％へと言う記事が目に付いた。これからリスニング教材の需要が高まるのだろう。リスニングの比重が30パーセント上がったのだから、リーディング、ライティング、スピーキングが総合的に30パー削られたことになる。このブログの読者に英検一級の面接委員をされている方がいる。大学共通テストのリスニングの比重が上がったのだから、英検にも影響は及んでくると思う。その方には気の毒だと思うのだが、それほど大学入試のためのテストというのは業界基準となっている。だからこそ、私は日本の英語教育産業の過熱を食い止める唯一の手段は大学入試科目から英語を外すことだと思っている。英検はそのまま存続させてもいいと思う。話をリスニングに戻すと、リスニングは頭でするものであって、耳でするものではないと私はいつも読者に言う。だから、これから色々なリスニング教材が出回るようになってもそれはただの便乗商法だから、振り回されないように注意して欲しい。目先のことに囚われず毎日正しい英語を5年10年とインプットするのが王道中の王道であることを肝に銘じて欲しい。
