前に何度か書いたが、単語とイディオムは一日に50語のペースで増やしてほしい。最低で50語だ。二週間ほど前にある読者に、英語ノートをまず100冊作るようにと打っておいた。すると、この読者は「 知らなかった単語、イディオムをノートに書きとっておくのですね。 余計な情報は書かないで、シンプルに単語、イディオムだけを書くのがポイントでしょうか。」と響いてきた。習ったことは必ず忘れるので、知っている単語、イディオムでも書くことが大切。書くことが重要なので、必然的にシンプルになる。同じノートを何度も何度も見ている時間はないので、余計な情報を書いても書かなくてもいいが、たぶんそのような時間はないと思う、、、、書くという行為が重要。おぼえてもおぼえなくても、書く。私は近くのスーバーの駐輪場に自転車を停める時には必ず、自転車スタンドの番号を写真に撮ることにしている。585番、588番、488番、、、大きな駐輪場だ。しかし、一度撮った写真をみることは、ほとんどない。写真を撮る行為そのものが、三桁の番号を思い出すきっかけになっているからだ。だから、英語ノートには知っている単語、知らない単語などを書きなぐる、、、、、この行為が記憶を助けてくれる。かなりローテクだが、言葉の学習にハイテクは存在しない。あるのは暗記だけだ。

読者たちから、メールを頂くたびに、ブログの購読ありがとう、、、で返事をするのだが、、、購読という言葉は、買って読むの意味だ。だから、ブログの購読とはおかしな言い方になる。しかし、購読以外の単語は思いつかない、、、誰かが知恵を絞って新しい言い方を考え出さなければいけないと思う。先ほど、読者に「ブログの購読ありがとう」で始まる返信メールを書いた。この読者の悩みは英語学習者の永遠の課題かもしれない。つまりTOEIC 高得点でテレビや映画の生きた英語は聞き取れないということだ。生きた英語は聞き取れないということは死んだ英語なら聞き取れるなのか？死んだ英語とは我ながらうまい表現だと思うが、購読の代わりの言い方はまったく見つからない。、、、リンガフォンという記事を書いたことがある。昔の英語教材だ。今でもあるかどうかは知らないが、あれの餌食になった英語学習者は相当いただろう。英語の学習を始める段階でリンガフォンは有効かもしれないが、あれは間違いなく死んだ英語、つまり聞く人にわかってもらうために必死に努力している英語だ。生きた英語とはネイティブどうして丁々発止する時の英語だ。これを理解するためにはネイティブと対等の武器を持たなくては勝負にならない。このブログはその武器を提供している。
