オランダは自転車王国のようだ。高低差がないので、自転車にはもってこいの地形らしい。感心するのはオランダの自転車はいわゆるママチャリが主流になっていることだ。自転車はこうでなくてはいけない。横須賀はといえば、山あり、坂あり、トンネルありの地形だが、ロードバイクが幅を利かせている。彼らはとても楽しんでロードバイクに乗っているようには見えない。修行僧のようにひたすらペダルを漕ぐ、速く漕ぐ。これではいけない。日本には電動ママチャリがある。三浦半島なぞ、ゆっくりと周ればいい。下のビデオで感心するのは時のロンドン市長が、ロンドンでもオランダを見習って Mini-Hollands を導入したことだ。横須賀も cyclist friendly 特区にしてほしい。5:33 they really have a totally different culture of cycling. and we've got to get that. when you cycle in Amsterdam or Copenhagen or Berlin, it's, you're not in a great fleet of people with their heads down, wearing lycra（ウルトラ警備隊のような格好）, who feel that they’ve got to get from A to B as quickly as possible, as fast as possible. everyone’s on big ‘sit up and beg’ bikes（ママチャリ）, they’re weaving around, there’s a much more relaxed feel to the way the cyclists occupy the streets. and we need to get that culture going. and that's why we're doing Mini-Hollands. 向こうに行くと、皆ママチャリでゆっくりと漕ぐのさ。ロンドンのようにウルトラ警備隊の格好でシャカリキに漕ぐ連中はいないよ。だから、ミニオランダ特区を設けたのさ。
