燃費の悪い車を gas guzzler （ガソリンを食う車）と言う。20:53 in the 1950s such an engine was unthinkable. jet engines were huge gas guzzlers. 1950年代に、2000キロ以上飛行できるジェットエンジンは夢想だにできなかったことだった。（当時の）ジェットエンジンは燃費がすこぶる悪かったからだ。
