stretch thin

私の知る限り比ゆ的にstretch （引き伸ばす）ものは四つある。law, imagination, budget, resources だ。law,imagination はタダなのでいくらでも曲げたり引き伸ばしたりできるが、budget, resources は限度が決まっているので引っ張りすぎると薄くなって破けてしまう。つまり回らなくなる。0;05 a man in Guinea suspected having a gruesome disease was left lying in the city street for hours. passers-by too scared to help, medical resources stretched thin. エボラ熱に感染したと見られるこのギニアの男性は何時間も路上に倒れたままだ。道行く人々は感染するのを恐れこの男性を助けることができなし、そうする医療物資も底をついている。
