Financial Vocabulary - Bull and Bear

The Stock Market
A bull is an adult male of various species of mammals. Adult male cows and oxen, usually called bulls, are often aggressive, meaning they are combative (like to fight), quarrelsome (like to fight), and bellicose (like to fight).
An aggressively rising (going up, or ascending) Stock Market is called a Bull Market, perhaps because a Bull charges forward (and up), or a rising market is full of Bulls (aggressive traders). But the Nikkei and world markets are not in a Bull Market. They are in a BEAR MARKET!
