日本のトイレ

つい最近アメリカのテレビでかなり程度の低い女性が日本のおしり洗浄器の使い方を知らずトイレ中を水浸しにする番組があり、その中で相方の男性は「だから日本は駄目なんだ」のようなセリフで締めくくっていましたが、この番組の示唆するところは非常に大きい。まず、温水洗浄を可能にする前提として電力ときれいな水が中断することなく供給できるインフラが整っていることがあげられます。つまり温水洗浄の実現は先進国の証といえます。その次に意識の問題ですがこれを変えるのには時間の問題よりも欧米の場合は意地と経済力の問題だと思う。おしりはきれいなほうがいいに決まっているが日本人をまねるのが癪にさわるのかそれとも意地でも日本化したくないのか、、、よくわからないけどこのような番組は日本を馬鹿にしたい気持ちを伝える前に自らの無知と程度の低さを認めているようなもので本末転倒としか言いようが無い。下のビデオはアメリカ人が作ったものだから奴らも素直に受け入れるとおもうが言っているセリフは今から30年以上前に将棋の大山名人が宣伝していたセリフのパクリです。

付け加えると、アメリカやイギリスでは温水洗浄は普及しないだろう。上流階級だけが使うようになるかもしれないが、大衆は温水洗浄の段階以前のレベル。経済的な問題やインフラの問題に加えて多様なトイレの文化が入り混じっている。それに加えて劣悪なトイレットペーバーを使うためにいつもトイレが詰まる。日本ではトイレットペーパーは流すのが常識ですが他の国では流さずにトイレのゴミ箱に捨てます(0:50)。質が悪く水に溶けないのでトイレが詰まってしまうためです。手でお尻を洗う習慣がある人種は温水洗浄器があってもやはり手を使ってお尻を洗わないと気がすまないらしい。日本以外で温水洗浄が普及する可能性がある国といえばお隣の韓国かもしれない。
