これは、代償なしには成果は得られないの意味でボディービルの世界では重いバーベルで体躯を鍛え毎日の筋肉痛、腰痛などに耐えながらno pain, no gainとお互いに言い合うのが礼儀です。もっと悲惨な言葉はblood, sweat and tearsとなります。これをもじった、all pain, no gainはnothing but troubleくらいの意味で、さしづめ「骨折り損のくたびれもうけ」に相当します。骨折り損のくたびれもうけはall for nothingでもよさそうですが、come to nothing/come to naughtを使ってall my hard work came to nothing.のようにもいえます。a lot of trouble/work for nothingくらいが妥当でしょう。wild goose chaseともいえるでしょう。1:28 no pain, no gain.
