これは馬鹿者は死んで生き返れば少しはましになると言うことではありません。馬鹿な考えは荒療治でもしない限りは治らないものだの意味です。unless an idiot dies, he won't be curedなどと訳してはいけません。some people never learn unless they take real hard lessons.が本当の意味です。これが可愛いわが子に「馬鹿は死ななきゃ治らんぞ！」と言っている親の心情と言う物です。羹に懲りて膾を吹くくらいの経験をしないと人は容易に忘れるものです。もっと短く言うとsome lessons must be learned/taught the hard way.でしょうか。ま、私見はともかく英語ではonce a fool always a foolが一番近い一般的な表現です。「馬鹿につける薬は無い」も同義です。誰かに「馬鹿は死ななきゃ治らない」というときにはbeyond redemptionといえばいいでしょう。
